  • Countdown to the Christmas bazaar

    Fri 27 Nov 2015

Next Sunday 6 December we are holding one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, our annual Christmas bazaar. Here are just some of the ways you can help.

We are looking for donations please (in strong carrier bags or boxes) into the office for:

    • Preloved Toys & Books…and Accessories- please make sure all toys are clean and have all their pieces in the same box or fixed together so they can’t be lost.  Soft Toys welcome and will be used for the Teddy Tombola
    • Decorations- our theme is ‘stars’ but we are after strings of anything sparkly that we can put up to ensure that festive feel. Nothing electrical please.
    • Cakes & Produce- we’d like your homemade pickles, jams, chutneys, relishes, bread and cakes to sell. We’ll be accepting non-perishable donations for the Produce Stall from  Monday 30 November, with perishables welcome at the weekend of the Bazaar.

Please sign up (email your class rep or contactfosp@gmail.com) if you can help out with any of the following:

    • Set-Up: includes activities like putting up decorations, sticking up signs, laying out tables, labelling tombolas, assembling the Grotto – any help with set-up on Saturday 5 December is much appreciated.
    • On the Day we’ll be seeking volunteers to man the stalls. Stall sign-up sheets are with Class Reps – each slot is 30 minutes so you’ll still have plenty of time to enjoy the Bazaar. If you don't know who your Rep is but you'd like to help, please email contactfosp@gmail.com.
    • Clear-Down on Sunday 6 December doesn’t have to take long if people can stay on and help. There will be a film club set up to keep the kids occupied, too.

We're looking forward to a great day!

  • Bring in your jam jars today!

    Fri 27 Nov 2015
Christmas Bazaar Mufti Day is today! Children can wear their own clothes in exchange for donations to the two Tombolas. For the Adult Tombola we are collecting wine and chocolates and for the Kids’ Tombola please decorate jam jars and fill them with small goodies such as mini toys, sweets, play jewellery, rubbers, tattoos and stickers. Trolleys are waiting at both gates to be filled up with your goodies.

Don’t forget to bring your Raffle tickets and Grotto forms with payment, too!

  • Decorate a star and win a prize!

    Wed 11 Nov 2015

Enter our 'Decorate a star' competition for our Christmas Bazaar and you could win a voucher prize! All entries will be displayed on the day and the winning star from each year group will feature on the programme. Get creative with pens, crayons, glitter, stickers (anything goes!) then stick your decorated star to a piece of card (cereal boxes work well) and cut it out on the dotted line, not forgetting to add your name and class on the back. Put your entries in the box marked STAR COMPETITION in the school office by Monday 16 November 2015. Copy of entry form available here.

  • Gentleness value launches Monday 16 November

    Fri 06 Nov 2015

On Monday 16 November 2015 we will be launching the next value in our values education project, ‘Gentleness’. Some examples of behaviours that demonstrate this value are:

    • being aware that our own behaviour impacts others and that we have the ability to impact for good and for bad
    • being able to manage our feelings (including anger) and behaviour towards others
    •  recognising what makes us angry and channelling this appropriately
    • responding appropriately when others are angry with us
    • showing consideration towards our shared environment, being gentle in the way we move around and use the materials around us
    • demonstrating kindness and care towards others
    • being sensitive toward others – aware of personal space, aware of how others are feeling and responding appropriately
    • showing empathy, forgiveness and mercy
    • carefully planning and delivering a response to wrong-doing that is not violent and aware of others’ feelings and needs
    • to be able to respond to bullying (of self or others) in appropriate and non-violent ways
    • being able to calm sensitive or difficult situations
    • being able to talk about how gentleness links and can be expressed in our other school values

Please could you discuss ‘Gentleness’ with children at home, and explore ways to reinforce it. Each week we will give special certificates to those children who demonstrate good values, and these will be displayed in the office reception area. Please feel free to come and look at them!
