  • E.T. screening at Film Club Sat 6 February

    Thu 28 Jan 2016

On Saturday 6 February 2016, Film Club will be showing E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial (PG). ‘Without E.T. there would be no Toy Stories’ wrote one critic about this much-loved all-time classic. It’s a heart-warming tale of an alien, discovered by 10-year-old Elliott, who joins his family life at a difficult time and also includes a whole host of comedy moments - but ultimately seeks a way to ‘go home’. A great example of a story told from the children’s perspective, the film redefined Sci-Fi drama when it was released. Directed by Stephen Spielberg, the adventure but may be a little challenging for very young viewers, so we recommend this for the over 7s.

  • Key Stage 1 sleepover tonight

    Fri 22 Jan 2016

We are all very excited about the Key Stage 1 sleepover tonight!

A reminder for children participating that doors open at 18.30. Children will need to have had their tea before they come to us. Registration will be at the door to the Year 2 Base Area and members of staff will be on duty there. Belongings should then be left in the room allocated, any medicines handed over in the designated area and then children can join staff in the hall. Our programme of events will include a range of games, activities and arts and crafts until supper. A light supper of pizza and a drink will be provided and then we settle down for the night.

Tomorrow morning, we will provide a light breakfast of cereal and croissants or toast. Pick up is from 09.00- 09.15. Please make sure you check out with a member of staff before you leave. Pick up is directly from the hall. At this point, the staff will be very tired and your children desperate to see you, so please do not be late.

Children will need: warm nightclothes, sleeping bag, pillow, toothbrush, toothpaste, a book, a change of clothes and a coat for playtime in the morning (weather permitting). Flashlights, electronic devices or torches must not be brought. Most importantly, they will need something to cuddle! If you have a sleeping mat or something to provide a softer sleeping surface that would be helpful. Please ensure any inflatable beds are inflated prior to drop-off. Please also make sure all items are named.

We look forward to seeing you there!

  • Launch of Honesty value

    Mon 11 Jan 2016

Today we launched the next value in our values education project, ‘Honesty’. Honesty is:

    • Always telling the truth, never stealing or cheating
    • Not hiding the truth about something, being sincere
    • Being able to share honestly how you feel.

Some examples of behaviours that demonstrate this value are:

    • Being able to own up fairly
    • Speaking the truth, even if it is difficult for you
    • Sensitivity
    • Knowing that sometimes telling the truth, even though we have been told not to tell, is the best thing to do
    • Not covering up the truth
    • Integrity/ being true to yourself
    • Courage to tell the truth
    • Responding to and growing own conscience
    • Having the sensitivity to know how and when to speak the truth
    • Sharing insightful understanding of possible consequence to not telling the truth
    • Being honest about how you feel
    • Being honest enough with yourself to accept constructive criticism.

Please could you discuss ‘Honesty’ with children at home, and explore ways to reinforce it. Each week we will give special certificates to those children who demonstrate good values, and these will be displayed in the office reception area. Please feel free to come and look at them!

  • New year, new calendar

    Mon 04 Jan 2016

We are pleased to announce an exciting new feature of our website, which allows you to subscribe to events from our school calendar so that they download into your own personal calendar on your mobile phone, tablet or computer. All you need to do is visit the calendar on our website- http://www.stanley.richmond.sch.uk/diary/grid/2015/12/ - and click the link called ‘Link the school events to your personal calendar’. You can then choose from three options: to add to your default calendar (for example, on an iPhone it will go to the iPhone calendar); to add it to your Google calendar; or input it to your calendar programme of choice.

    • When we edit our calendar, the updates will appear automatically in your calendar (the time that this takes to happen will depend on your calendar programme)
    • You cannot edit the events in the school calendar
    • You can name the calendar and choose how often to receive updates (we recommend you set this to as often as possible).
    • You can unsubscribe via your own calendar at any time.
If you have any questions or feedback, please let the school office know and we can forward them to our website provider. Thank you!
We have limited Preschool places available for September 2024, to register your interest go to About Us / Admissions * * * * * If you have a safeguarding concern about a child please contact the Single Point of Access on 020 8547 5008
