  • Arts Week

    Fri 14 Feb 2020

It has been Arts Week this week (10-14 February) and the children have created some brilliant art on the theme We Fit Together, a celebration of all the different cultures and nationalities represented at Stanley and further afield.

After all the hard work through the week the impressive creations filled both the Hall and the Gym for a spectacular Art Exhibition which parents and children came to see on Thursday evening and Friday morning.

Headteacher Mr Hawley said: “I’ve been amazed by the quality of artwork that has been produced by the children and delighted to see so many parents at the exhibition on Thursday evening and Friday morning. It’s great to see Art is alive and well at Stanley!”

  • Football wins for Girls and Boys

    Wed 12 Feb 2020

Both the Girls and Boys football teams have been playing some impressive football with four victories. Here are Coach Andy's reports on the games:

The boys entered the EFL Kids Cup along with 60 primary schools across Richmond and Hounslow borough. The top two of each group qualified for the afternoon sessions with the rest unfortunately going back to school.

Stanley had a mixed morning with not the best of starts going down to Trafalgar with a late goal. We drew the next two games meaning we required a win against St James’s and Edward Bethan. First up was St James’s where the boys played brilliantly beating them 7-0 and then winning against Edward Bethan 4-1 so qualifying as runners up.

The afternoon was spilt into the top 10 teams with the top four competing for the semi-final places. Again we had a mixed afternoon winning two drawing two and losing one. One of the triumphs was a great match against Collis with Stanley winning 3-0. We finished Third in our group just missing out reaching the semi-finals.

The boys were a credit to Stanley and I was very proud of all of the boys’ effort.

    Squad: Lucas R 6B - Jack E 6M - Oliver H 6B - Malakai D 5B - Archie O 6V - Martynas J 6M -

    Jarvis M 6B - Joel W 6B

The girls travelled to SJB (St John the Baptist) for a league game. Stanley started very brightly with Isla shooting for outside the box into the top left corner of the goal 1-0 to Stanley. Stanley pilled on the pressure with another Isla shot this time the excellent SJB goalkeeper making a great save but Lilly S, sharp as ever, was there to score the rebound. The girls started to play some really good football and just before half time Josefina powered her way through the SJB’s team for a one on one with their goalkeeper … 3-0 to Stanley.

The girls continued their great form this week with a 4-0 win over Sacred Heart to remain unbeaten. A great performance in tough condition that were never going to stop the girls!

Goals from Isla and a hat-trick from Josefina. One of the goals was a fantastic effort where Josefina beat three players to find the top corner - wow!!

    Well done girls!

    Squad for both Girls games: Cecilia C – 5S, Matilda S – 5S, , Lily S – 5S, Lucy C – 5B, Jocelyn M – 5B, Sadie BD – 5P Isla H – 6M, Josefina P – 6M, Uma B – 6M

The boys played Collis in very tough conditions but the weather didn’t affect the result - Stanley 8 Collis 0.

With some outstanding goals and a few boys making their debuts for the school the boys produced a very good performance.

  • Sleepover for Year 1 and 2

    Thu 06 Feb 2020

Friday 31 January was the night of one of the events all Stanley pupils remember - the Year 1 and 2 Sleepover.

Over 80 Year 1 and 2 children met in the Hall on Friday evening accompanied by a wide range of cuddly toys! They were soon enjoying a variety of activities including karaoke, watching films, Lego and Art. They then had a pizza supper before settling down to sleep (the excitement may have meant there was not much sleep for some ... but they caught up on that at home on Saturday!).

After breakfast parents arrived to take their children home and hear about what was a very special event. As one reported: "Mummy the sleepover was literally the best thing I've ever done, I wish I could do it every week!"

Teachers and other helpers thoroughly enjoy the sleepover too, especially as the children are so good ... but there are no plans to have a sleepover every week!

Thank you to all the children, teachers and helpers who made this a very enjoyable, special and memorable night.
