  • Mother-and-daughter authors to visit Stanley this Thursday

    Tue 05 Jul 2016
We are excited to announce that this Thursday, mother-and-daughter authors Perdita and Honor Carhill will visit Year 6 to talk about their new book Waiting for Callback, which is suitable for Year 6 but may also appeal to some Year 5s. The books will be sold in advance of the visit so that children will have them for signing on the day.  We will hold some signed copies back and sell them after the event also.  We can only accept cash or a cheque for £6.99 (made payable to Kew Books Ltd).
  • NUT strike action Tue 5 July

    Mon 04 Jul 2016

    Message from Ian Dickinson, Headteacher:

As you will be aware from the media, the teaching trade union NUT will be taking industrial action on Tuesday 5 July 2016. The action (a one day strike) will result in class or whole school closures across the region.

A decision to close the school or send pupils home is never taken lightly, but in this instance, where staff have elected to take lawful industrial action, I have to take appropriate steps to ensure the health, safety and well being of all pupils.

We are aware that class/school closures inconvenience parents and carers and so I am writing to give you advance notice of the impact of the action on this school.

If the action goes ahead, the following arrangements will be in place:  There will be no school on Tuesday 5 July 2016 for children in the classes listed below

Reception classes – Bay, Willow & Laurel

    Year 1 classes – Walnut

    Year 3 classes – 3S, 3GO & 3CR

    Year 4 classes – 4S, 4LW, 4SW & 4B

    Year 5 classes -  5B, 5P & 5V

    Year 6 classes -  6LT & 6P

Parents must make alternative arrangements for the children on that day.

The classes listed below will be open as usual:

    Nursery both AM and PM

    Reception classes – Pine

Year 1 classes – Chestnut, Apple & Cherry

Year 2 classes – Oak, Birch, Maple & Sycamore

    Year 3 classes – 3B

    Year 5 classes – 5M

    Year 6 classes – 6S

Children in these classes should attend school as normal.

I realise that these arrangements may result in the class of one child in a family being closed and the class of a sibling being open. Whilst it is expected that all children in the open classes attend school as normal, should the childcare arrangements that you are forced to make mean that siblings are unable to come to school, then such absence would be authorised.

Currently parents should assume that the action will take place on 5 July 2016; should it be cancelled for any reason then all classes would open as normal on that day. This website and our Twitter account will be updated as information becomes available.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
