  • Richmond's mayor opens Stanley's Living Classroom

    Councillor Jane Boulton, Mayor of Richmond Borough, was guest of honour at Stanley's annual May Fair on Sunday 17 May 2015, and officially opened Stanley's Living Classroom. 

     

    The Living Classroom is a beautifully crafted wildlife garden which has been created with funds raised by the Friends of Stanley Primary PTA. The garden includes a lovely pond with accessible pathways, and future plans include an orchard. The Living Classroom is maintained by a small group of parents and there are weekly spruce-up sessions on term-time Thursdays (14.00-15.00) for anyone who is able to help.   • Teaching staff have a lesson in the new Living Classroom

    Stanley's teaching staff developed their knowledge of outdoor learning this week in our new Living Classroom. The session was led by Year 2 teacher Jacqui Smith, who has a background in environmental science. Our teaching staff have weekly training sessions as part of their continuing professional development.  
     

    The Living Classroom is a beautifully crafted wildlife garden which has been created with funds raised by FOSP. The garden includes a lovely pond with accessible pathways, and future plans include an orchard. The Living Classroom is maintained by a small group of parents– no expertise required! There are weekly spruce-up sessions on term-time Thursdays (14.00-15.00) for anyone who is able to help. The grand opening of the Living Classroom will take place at the May Fair at 12.30 on Sunday 17 May 2015.     As part of an initiative to help raise funds for Stanley’s art resources to support and inspire our budding artists, our year group tea towels will shortly be going into production! The tea towels will include a portrait of every child in the year group and the Stanley Primary School logo. If you would like to place an order, please complete the reply form on the letter you  have received and return this with payment (£5 each) to the office by Thursday 21 May 2015. Payment can be made online by placing the amount into the ‘Prepayment’ account.
