  • STEM Week

    Fri 24 May 2019

During our STEM week (w/c 20 May) the children enjoyed a great range of activities encompassing all the STEM elements - Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

We had a number of visitors who presented a range of subjects with the ever popular inclusion of slime and explosions!

Workshops on Slime, Mother Nature, Digestion, Electricity & Circuits, Lego, Circulation and Heart dissection all took place during the week.

  • May Fair

    Tue 21 May 2019

The May Fair on Sunday 19 May was, as always, a great success.

The entertainment, stalls, food and refreshments made the day a very special one and the Stanley community had a great time ... particularly the children who enjoyed face painting, meeting the police, making smoothies, singing so well for us and bouncing on the bouncy castle. However, the highlight for them was probably the stocks ... it's not every day you can soak your Headteacher!

Thanks to FOSP for organising such a great day and to all our sponsors for their generosity and to everyone who came along on the day.

  • Stanley Football Girls are Borough Champions

    Wed 08 May 2019

Here is Coach Andy’s report on how we became Borough Champions:

    Sheen Mount 0 - Stanley 1

Stanley Girls faced Sheen Mount in the Borough Final last Thursday - 2 May.

The girls as always this year were very excited and very determined to do the school proud. The game started at a very high pace with both teams looking extremely strong. First chance came to Clem with a great pass from Lucy only for the outstanding Sheen Mount goalkeeper to parry the ball wide. Stanley had another four really good chances and would have been ahead at half time but for the excellent Sheen Mount goalkeeper.

    Half time 0-0

We had a fantastic team talk with very supportive words from Miss Proctor and the girls came out for the half refocused and ready to do their best. The second half was a tense affair with both teams playing really well and working so hard. With five minutes remaining Sheen Mount’s striker broke free from our brilliantly organised defence to face a one on one against Scarlett who, as throughout the season, didn't disappoint with a wonderful save. Stanley then counter attacked with a passing move that was a joy to see. The ball fell to Olivia who smashed the ball past the Sheen Mount goalkeeper into the roof of the net. For the last 3 minutes the girls worked so hard chasing every ball.

I think the most relieved person to hear the final whistle was the coach but so pleased to see a great team reaction - well done girls!

"The development this season has been so enjoyable and you are all a credit to the school. Your great teamwork and belief in yourselves shines through."

Congratulations to the squad: Scarlett, Heidi, Josefina, Uma, Elodie, Seren, Clem, Isla, Olivia and Lucy and to Coach Andy.
