Learning with Confidence Together
We are pleased to confirm that an amazing £7,600 was raised at our recent May Fair. On behalf of the school, we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone for helping to achieve this. The monies raised will be put towards sports equipment, team kit and new markings on the MUGAs and playground.
On Monday 23 May we will be launching the next value in our values education project, Aspiration. We define Aspiration as being full of hope for something better and working hard to make it happen. Some examples of behaviours that demonstrate this value are:
Please could you discuss ‘Aspiration’ with children at home, and explore ways to reinforce it. Each week we will give special certificates to those children who demonstrate good values, and these will be displayed in the office reception area. Please feel free to come and look at them!
Congratulations to Holly C (Apple class), whose flower painting won an award in this year's Richmond Borough in Bloom Poster Design Competition. Holly was runner-up of Category B, for entrants aged 5-7 years, and won a prize of a special commemorative certificate and a pack of art materials. These were presented by the Mayor, Counsellor Martin Seymour, on Friday 13 May 2016; after which there was a celebration tea party. See below Holly's winning design and photos of the presentation.
We are really looking forward to welcoming all our local community to our Olympic-themed May Fair this Sunday (12.00-15.00). This really is a fun-filled afternoon, and all the stalls and activities on the day are raising funds for our school, specifically going towards sports equipment, team kit and new markings on the MUGAs and playground. Thank you to all the local businesses, friends and families who have donated their time, money, products and services so generously. We have a busy timetable of events, including the lighting of the Olympic torch, Year 2 choir and country dancing, the great Stanley Bake Off and the Stanley tug of war, so please come along and support us.
Congratulations to Florrie D (5P) who created a prize-winning doughnut for The Cavan Bakery in this week’s National Doughnut Week. National Doughnut Week, now in its 25th year, is an annual event when bakers, cafes and coffee shops across the UK raise funds from every doughnut sold for The Children’s Trust, the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury. Florrie’s winning ‘Bee Happy’ doughnut was on sale on in the bakery on Tuesday (see below). Well done, Florrie!
