  • Penalty shoot out win for girls

    Fri 24 Nov 2017

Well done to our Girls’ Football team who made it through to the semi-finals of the Borough tournament.

    Here is Coach Andy's report:

    Groups games
    Stanley v Newland House 0-0
    Stanley v Queens 1-1
    Stanley v East Sheen 1-0
    Stanley v Bishop P 1-0
    Stanley v Vineyard 1-0

Stanley won the group and went into the knockout stage.

    Last 16 - Stanley v Mary Mags 2-0
Quarter finals - Stanley v Hampton Juniors won on a penalty shoot out! Finally after losing the last two finals to the dreaded penalties.
Semi final - Stanley v Hampton Hill 0-1

We were on our last legs and very tired. The girls gave it a real good go but we just couldn’t find a goal. The semi final went to Golden goal and unfortunately Hampton Hill scored with minutes left.
Well done Grace, Elizabeth, Maddie, Lucy, Sophie, Izzy, Clem and Olivia!!

  • Firefighters visit Year 2

    Thu 23 Nov 2017

Firefighters from our local fire station visited school to talk about their work as well as fire safety.

They also talked about the Great Fire of London and how firefighters then used dynamite to clear buildings to stop the spread of the fire.

    Thank you Firefighters!

  • Lest we forget

    Thu 23 Nov 2017

At our Remembrance Service we observed a minutes silence and heard of the sacrifices made by soldiers over the years, including a past Stanley teacher. A group of students also played the Last Post. It was a very special service.

Well done to all the children for their involvement, including a perfect minutes silence and thank you to our musicians for their moving Last Post.

  • Year 5 "adopt" a grave

    Sun 12 Nov 2017

As part of the Centenary Remembrance in the school, Year 5 has ‘adopted’ the graves of four servicemen whose names appear on our war memorial. The graves are located in Teddington cemetery in Shacklegate Lane.

Throughout the year groups of children from Year Five will be responsible for looking after the graves. This will involve general tidying up, weeding and planting bulbs and flowers.

Year 5 tended the graves for Remembrance Day before returning to school in time for the two minutes silence around the memorial. You can see from the pictures below what a good job Year 5 has done!

  • Flow River Studies at Teddington Lock

    Sun 12 Nov 2017

Year 3 enjoyed visits to Teddington Lock over the last two weeks to complete their Flow river studies project.

Each class went on a different day and the children were able to experience the river, consider environmental issues and carry out water experiments.

The children used the boat The Venturer as their base to explore the banks of the river and foreshore to study plant life, animals and humanactivity. They also saw the lock in action and carried out experiments on water temperature.

  • Gunpowder Drama for Year 2

    Sun 12 Nov 2017

To launch Year 2's Remember Remember topic the children took part in a workshop that explored the tale of Guy Fawkes.

They were taken on an interactive journey back 400 years to learn about the Gunpowder plot. Part of the day involved a drama workshop.

As fireworks lit the sky on 5th November ... and 10th November for the school's fireworks night ... Year 2 children, as well as enjoying the fireworks, had an understanding of why we remember Guy Fawkes.
