  • Reception parent-pupil survey

    Mon 24 Mar 2014

For the attention of Reception class parents:

At Stanley Primary School, the governors carry out regular surveys of parents and children to help the school keep improving. We are very interested to hear your views and experiences of being a parent at the school.

We are particularly interested in how we can best support parents and children with the move into Stanley Primary School. It is important we get as many questionnaires as possible to make sure we have covered everybody's experiences.

The survey is in two sections:

    Part 1 – questions 1 – 7 should be completed by the parent/carer.

Part 2 – question 8  should be completed by the pupil with parents assistance.

You can complete the survey either by:

    1. Submitting the paper copy supplied in the book bags and returning it to the office.

    2. Copying the link below into your web-browser to complete the survey.

      https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/QMNDTZH

    3. On this website, follow the Download Forms / School Letters / Reception / Reception Parent Pupil Survey 2013

We would be grateful if the survey could be completed and submitted by Friday 25th April 2014.

      Yours sincerely

  • Industrial action class closures Wed 26 March

    Wed 19 Mar 2014

CLASS CLOSURES DUE TO INDUSTRIAL ACTION ON 26th March 2014

    Dear Parents

As you will be aware from the media, the teaching trade union NUT will be taking industrial action on the 26th March 2014. The action (a one day strike) will result in class or whole school closures across the region.
A decision to close the school or send pupils home is never taken lightly, but in this instance, where staff have elected to take lawful industrial action, I have to take appropriate steps to ensure the health, safety and well being of all pupils.
We are aware that class/school closures inconvenience parents and carers and so I am writing to give you advance notice of the impact of the action on this school.

If the action goes ahead, the following arrangements will be in place:

There will be no school on Wednesday 26th March 2014 for children in the classes listed below:
    Nursery both AM and PM
Reception classes – Pine & Bay
    Year 1 classes – Cherry & Walnut
    Year 2 classes – Oak
Year 3 classes – 3V (please see following paragraph for information for 3CT)
    Year 5 classes - 5B & 5P
Parents must make alternative arrangements for the children on that day.

For the children in class 3CT – the class will be open in the morning, but closed for the afternoon session. Parents must collect children from the school office at 12.10pm promptly.

The classes listed below will be open as usual
Reception classes – Laurel & Willow
    Year 1 classes – Chestnut & Apple
Year 2 classes – Birch, Maple & Sycamore
    Year 3 classes – 3B & 3W
    Year 4 classes – 4W, 4S & 4B
    Year 5 classes – 5K
    Year 6 classes – 6M, 6B & 6MS
Children in these classes should attend school as normal.

I realise that these arrangements may result in the class of one child in a family being
closed and the class of a sibling being open. Whilst it is expected that all children in
the open classes attend school as normal, should the childcare arrangements that
you are forced to make mean that siblings are unable to come to school, then such
    absence would be authorised.

Currently parents should assume that the action will take place on 26th March 2014,
should it be cancelled for any reason then all classes would open as normal on that
day. The school website and Twitter account will be updated as information
    becomes available.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

    Best regards,
    Ian Dickinson,
    Headteacher

  • Year 4 performs brass concert

    Thu 13 Mar 2014
Year 4 put on a fantastic brass concert for parents on Thursday 13 March 2014. The children have had 7 lessons on trombones, trumpets, cornets or baritones, and have learnt to play 5 notes. Each class performed 'Hot Cross Buns', as well as another piece  'Lift the Bridge' (which involved some improvisation)!
  • World Book Day is a huge success!

    Thu 06 Mar 2014

Thank you to everyone for helping to make World Book Day dressing-up day on 5 March such a big success. We had some wonderful costumes, and a special thank you to parents for all your efforts.

This is the feedback we had from one of our parents:

"Just a note to say how much I enjoyed the World Book Day Parade yesterday. The children looked sensational. A huge thank you to all the dedicated staff".
