  • Year 5 do the Chinese Ribbon Dance!

    Thu 25 Feb 2016

On Tuesday 23 February 2016, Year 5 took part in a Chinese cultural workshop as part of their topic focus on Chinese New Year.  The children watched a demonstration of one of the most famous Chinese folk dances, the Chinese Ribbon Dance. Each class participated in a workshop, exploring the different characters and roles within the dance and then had the opportunity to do some dancing themselves! Please see photos below.

  • Arts Week a huge success

    Mon 22 Feb 2016

We enjoyed a fabulous Arts Week before half-term, culminating in a fantastic exhibition of the children's artwork. Our theme this year was ‘The Journey of Mark Making’, with a main focus on printmaking, but also including drawing, painting, clay work, etc. We hope you had the opportunity to come along and view the children's hard work; please see the photos below for a taster of what was on display.

  • Stanley reach borough football league quarter-finals

    Tue 09 Feb 2016

Stanley's boys’ football teams played against St. Mary's and St. Peter's Primary School (SMSP) in the borough league this week with the following results:

    Boys’ A team 7-4 SMSP (Rylee x 5, Elias x 1, Eddie x 1)

This was a fabulous end-to-end game played in a great spirit. Stanley played some fantastic passing football which has resulted in some excellent goals. The result means Stanley win the group stage, which is a great achievement for the boys in such a competitive group of schools. We are now in the quarter-finals, which the boys are really looking forward to.

    Boys’ B team 8-0 SMSP (Harry x 3, Finn x 2, Archie x 2, Matty x 1)

Another convincing win from our B team, who have proved what a great team they are with yet another very strong performance. It was very pleasing to see a number of boys playing for the first time representing the school and we still remain unbeaten.

Well done to all the boys.

  • Countdown to Arts Week

    Wed 03 Feb 2016

We are all really excited about our Arts Week, which takes place w/c 8 February. The theme this year is ‘The Journey of Mark Making’, which has a main focus on printmaking, but also lends itself to all other mark making such as drawing, painting, clay work, etc.

We have a host of special workshops, assemblies and exhibitions to look forward to. The children have all worked really hard to create some fabulous artwork, and we hope that you are able to come along to our art exhibition on Thursday 11 February (18.00-20.00) and Friday 12 February (08.50-10.00) to see the results of their efforts.

  • Year 6 to visit Kew Gardens this Thursday

    Mon 01 Feb 2016

Year 6 will be participating in a fantastic workshop at Kew Gardens this Thursday 4 February.

The children will get a chance to follow in the footsteps of Darwin and unravel the mysteries of how plants have adapted to a variety of habitats, from dry deserts to hot and steamy rainforests.  The children will be taken on a multi-sensory journey through lush rainforests, dry arid deserts and temperate bogs to unravel the mysteries of evolution and adaptation.

The children will be leaving school at 09.30 and should be back at the end of the school day. They will need to wear full school uniform and a coat appropriate for the weather. They will also need a packed lunch in a disposable bag with snacks and a drink in a plastic bottle. If your child normally has a school lunch, a packed lunch will be provided. We will be travelling by train, so would appreciate as many parent/ carer helpers as possible. The cost of the travel and workshop is £10.00 per child.

We are looking forward to a great day!
