  • The Great Stanley Bake Off

    Are you Stanley’s answer to Mary Berry or Paul Hollywood? Get your showstopping bakes perfected in time for the May Fair on Sunday 15 May and you could be pronounced Star Baker!

     

    As we are raising money for outdoor equipment and markings, we are taking inspiration from our Olympic theme. Please see Bake Off poster for full details of baking categories.

     

    Judging will take place at 12:30 on Sunday 15 May and the winner and runner-up prizes for each category will be announced at the end of the Fair. All entries will be donated for sale on the cake stall. Get baking!

  • Raise money for Stanley when you shop online

    Did you know that you can raise funds for Stanley when you shop online? The Giving Machine is a registered charity that enables you to generate sales commissions with every online purchase. The Giving Machine converts these commissions into free donations to the school. It is free and easy to register. Go to https://www.thegivingmachine.co.uk/ and search for ‘Friends of Stanley Primary’. Once you are registered, every time you shop online go to The Giving Machine, find the retailer you wish to buy from and you will be generating money directly to Stanley Primary. Friends and family can also donate, once they register. All the major retailers are registered, including supermarkets, department stores, clothes shops, eBay and Amazon. Click, Shop, Give for Free.  It really is as simple as that!
  • Responsibility value launches today

    On Monday 25 April we will be launching the next value in our values education project, Responsibility. Some examples of behaviours that demonstrate this value are:

     

    • Making good decisions in our own behaviour
    • Taking responsibility for our learning
    • Asking when we need help
    • Being independent
    • Ensuring we bring the necessary belongings to school e.g. book bags, reading diaries, homework
    • Taking care to work hard
    • Being proactive – not stepping over litter, coats, etc.
    • Seeing a need– stepping in
    • Caring for others
    • Demonstrating altruism
    • Being involved in School Council- seeing this responsibility as important – being willing to work hard at it
    •  Taking responsibility for our own health – physical, mental and emotional wellbeing
    • Caring for pets / family
    • Volunteering to do things in school, the community, etc.
    • Being involved in and committed to outside clubs – e.g. Cubs/ Scouts/ Brownies/ Guides/ sports

     

    Please could you discuss Responsibility with children at home, and explore ways to reinforce it. Each week we will give special certificates to those children who demonstrate good values, and these will be displayed in the office reception area. Please feel free to come and look at them.
  • Living Classroom Dig Day this Saturday

    Please come along to our Living Classroom Dig Day this Saturday! Adults and keen children over 8 with supervision are welcome- no experience necessary. Just come along any time between 10.00– 14.00 via the staff car park. Please bring a spade and/ or gardening gloves if you can. Paddington (cert. U) will be showing at Saturday Film Club in the large studio from 10.30 for the kids (children from Year 2 down to be supervised by an adult). Do come along if you can- the more spades the merrier!  

  • Design a flag for our May Fair

    This year’s May Fair is going to be sport-tastic! Design a flag on this template and spot your entry fluttering over the Fair. Plus, winning entries from each year group will appear in the Fair programme. Entries to be submitted into the office by Friday 22 April please.
  • Children's author to visit Stanley

    We are excited to announce that children’s author Abi Elphinstone is visiting Stanley on Wednesday 20 April 2016. Abi is author of The Dream Snatcher and The Shadow Keeper. The Dream Snatcher raced into the bestselling charts within the first few weeks of being published and was heralded as a ‘Top Ten Children’s Book Not To Miss’ in 2015 by The Bookseller. During her visit, Abi will be holding an assembly for children in Years 4, 5 and 6 and will be signing books in the large studio after school. If you would like to buy one of Abi’s books and have it signed on the day, please send money or a cheque (payable to ‘Kew Books Ltd’) with your child. Each book is £6.99.
