  • Year 5 to visit Hampton Court Palace

    Mon 28 Sep 2015

Year 5 children are kicking off their year with an exciting learning project ‘Off with her head’, which focuses on life in Tudor times. To enthuse the children and enhance the learning in the classroom, we have planned visits to Hampton Court Palace to participate in a Opening up the world workshop and visit the other Tudor parts of the Palace.

Classes will visit on the following dates:

    Monday 12 October 2015: 5VB and 5RB

    Tuesday 13 October 2015: 5P and 5V

We will travel on public transport and eat our lunch at the palace, so the children will require a packed lunch in a NAMED disposable bag. Please- no sweets, no fizzy drinks and drinks provided in plastic containers.  Children who usually have a hot lunch will have a packed lunch provided by the school.  Children will need to wear full school uniform and clothes appropriate for the weather. We plan to be back by the end of the school day.

We would be very grateful for any volunteers to accompany us on the bus and to support a small group of children as they walk through and examine the artefacts in the palace rooms. In order to cover the cost of entry fees and the workshop, we have to ask for a voluntary contribution of £8.00 please.

Letters have been distributed to parents/ carers; please complete and return the reply slip to your child’s class teacher by Friday 2 October 2015. A copy of the letter can be found on our website under ‘Virtual Office- Letters- Year 5’.

  • Rugby World Cup fever hits Twickenham!

    Fri 18 Sep 2015

We are all very excited to be part of the community hosting the eighth Rugby World Cup, which kicks off today at Twickenham Stadium. Stanley has a strong rugby heritage, having been crowned National Tag Rugby champions three times. Defending World Cup champions New Zealand will be looking to do what no other team has done before - claim back-to-back titles. But England, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, Wales and France all have the potential to be crowned 2015 Rugby World Cup champions in what is shaping up to be the most competitive tournament ever. We’re looking forward to a great tournament!

  • Living Classroom Dig Day this Sunday

    Mon 14 Sep 2015

Our award- winning Living Classroom will be holding a Dig Day on Sunday 20 September from 10.00-14.00. Please contactfosp@gmail.com if you are able to come along. We have several small jobs on the day: second coat of paint on the shed, weeding, moving plants from the old Living Classroom and mulching. No expertise necessary. Many hands make light work! And of course, there will be cake...

Please help, even if you can only come for a short time. Please bring a spade and gardening gloves, if possible. Visit our Living Classroom page for further information about this initiative: http://www.stanley.richmond.sch.uk/living-classroom/
