Learning with Confidence Together
Year 1 have been creating some fantastic poetry and artwork inspired by the Northern Lights, at home and at school.
Great work Year 1!
During Children’s Mental Health Week (1-7 February) the Stanley community has been thinking about Mental Health and what we can all do about it.
Mr Hawley’s assembly on Mental Health was viewed by all children either in class or at home. You can see it if you click on the link below:

Mr Hawley said: “It is so important that we focus on good mental health, particularly at the moment. if we are able to help our children with tools to achieve this, they will be able to return to school happy and their learning will flourish. It has been great to see our teachers, children and families engage with our 'Inside Out' theme.”
The Inside Out theme saw children and parents wearing their clothes inside out and this helps us all to consider how someone may be feeling on the inside. It also helps us to remember to be kind and considerate to others all of the time. See the gallery below for some ‘Inside Out’ pictures
As well as wearing clothes inside out children have been talking about mental health and a series of mindfulness exercises for children have been sent to parents – a copy is also posted in the Virtual office on this website.
We have our first winners in the Stanley Writing Competition!
Congratulations to Felix in 4B, Tyler in 5C and Megan in 6M who are the first to enter and have won prizes of a £10 book token each!
There are plenty more prizes to be won so children please get your entries in - all you have to do is tell us in the most thoughtful and creative way how the adults in your home are doing as your teachers? Do you have The Demon Headmaster in your kitchen or Miss Honey in your sitting room? You can make it true or fictional (made up), funny or serious, long or short.
Please send your entries by Wednesday 10th February to your class teacher who will give them to Ms Leney.
FOSP's Stanley Mile Challenge has seen children hit the ground running, walking, sledging and scooting to raise money for the school and Year 6 leavers' celebrations.
It's great opportunity for everyone to get fit, blow away the cobwebs and raise much-needed cash for our school. The children have been challenged to cover one mile per week during Spring term to complete a half marathon before Easter.
Families and friends can get involved by sponsoring the children's efforts and joining in too.
The pictures below show a range of daily challenges completed by Year 2.
Year 1 have been making rainbows, either at school or at home.
They've also been writing rainbow poems which they are very proud of.
The rainbow work was part of their weather project and also in honour of all of our wonderful NHS staff.
Well done Year 1 and NHS staff!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING RETURN TO SCHOOL IN JANUARY 2021
On 30th December 2020, the Government announced that in order to help contain the community transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19), some restrictions to primary education settings are required in certain areas.
All primary schools in Richmond-upon-Thames are subject to these restrictions.
As a result, the Government is directing that Stanley Primary School should only allow children of critical workers and those defined as vulnerable to attend. The information contained at the end of this letter provides details of those classed as ‘critical workers’ and those children classed as ‘vulnerable’. This also applies to children who attend Stanley Pre-School.
This situation will be regularly reviewed; the first review is expected by 18 January 2021.
If you are aware that your child falls into either of these categories, you will need to complete the google form using this link https://forms.gle/qdXiX99Q32kL4WNB6 to inform us if they will be attending school from Tuesday 5th January 2021. Please ensure that you have completed this by 9am MONDAY 4TH JANUARY 2021.
