Learning with Confidence Together

Tolerance value launches on Monday

On Monday 14 March 2016 we will be launching the next value in our values education project, Tolerance. Some examples of behaviours that demonstrate this value are:

  • Inviting others to join in, even if you would not normally play or work with them
  • Tolerating behaviours of others, e.g. behaviours from children with differing needs
  • An understanding that there are behaviours that we should not tolerate – being hurt, bullied, being made to feel afraid
  • Being willing to compromise
  • Supporting/helping others without being asked
  • Not giving up – tolerating challenge/changes
  • Showing empathy towards others in class
  • Demonstrating a positive awareness of others in our community who represent differing faiths, culture, language
  • Being interested to learn about/from other religions, views, beliefs, cultures, languages
  • Having a growing knowledge of global issues/news
  • Being able to empathise with others who are different or are being treated unfairly due to difference
  • Identifying intolerance and tolerance in news stories

Please could you discuss ‘Tolerance’ with children at home, and explore ways to reinforce it. Each week we will give special certificates to those children who demonstrate good values, and these will be displayed in the office reception area. Please feel free to come and look at them!
