Learning with Confidence Together
On Saturday 6 February 2016, Film Club will be showing E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial (PG). ‘Without E.T. there would be no Toy Stories’ wrote one critic about this much-loved all-time classic. It’s a heart-warming tale of an alien, discovered by 10-year-old Elliott, who joins his family life at a difficult time and also includes a whole host of comedy moments - but ultimately seeks a way to ‘go home’. A great example of a story told from the children’s perspective, the film redefined Sci-Fi drama when it was released. Directed by Stephen Spielberg, the adventure but may be a little challenging for very young viewers, so we recommend this for the over 7s.

A big thank you to all the team who volunteered to give up a night’s sleep to run the sleepover on Friday, and to all the children who took part. Everyone had a great time and the children were such stars! All the money raised from the sleepover will be used to fund activities in the Infant Department. Please see the Year Groups- Year 1 and Year 2 sections of our website for photos from the sleepover: http://www.stanley.richmond.sch.uk/photo-gallery-1/.
We are all very excited about the Key Stage 1 sleepover tonight!
A reminder for children participating that doors open at 18.30. Children will need to have had their tea before they come to us. Registration will be at the door to the Year 2 Base Area and members of staff will be on duty there. Belongings should then be left in the room allocated, any medicines handed over in the designated area and then children can join staff in the hall. Our programme of events will include a range of games, activities and arts and crafts until supper. A light supper of pizza and a drink will be provided and then we settle down for the night.
Tomorrow morning, we will provide a light breakfast of cereal and croissants or toast. Pick up is from 09.00- 09.15. Please make sure you check out with a member of staff before you leave. Pick up is directly from the hall. At this point, the staff will be very tired and your children desperate to see you, so please do not be late.
Children will need: warm nightclothes, sleeping bag, pillow, toothbrush, toothpaste, a book, a change of clothes and a coat for playtime in the morning (weather permitting). Flashlights, electronic devices or torches must not be brought. Most importantly, they will need something to cuddle! If you have a sleeping mat or something to provide a softer sleeping surface that would be helpful. Please ensure any inflatable beds are inflated prior to drop-off. Please also make sure all items are named.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Some examples of behaviours that demonstrate this value are:
Please could you discuss ‘Honesty’ with children at home, and explore ways to reinforce it. Each week we will give special certificates to those children who demonstrate good values, and these will be displayed in the office reception area. Please feel free to come and look at them!
We are pleased to announce an exciting new feature of our website, which allows you to subscribe to events from our school calendar so that they download into your own personal calendar on your mobile phone, tablet or computer. All you need to do is visit the calendar on our website- http://www.stanley.richmond.sch.uk/diary/grid/2015/12/ - and click the link called ‘Link the school events to your personal calendar’. You can then choose from three options: to add to your default calendar (for example, on an iPhone it will go to the iPhone calendar); to add it to your Google calendar; or input it to your calendar programme of choice.
