How To Get Involved

All parents and carers are members of FOSP from the moment your child starts Stanley school, right through to when they leave. There are plenty of ways you can get involved with FOSP, and it’s easy to find something that fits around your family and work commitments. We’re not asking anyone to commit for the long term, just do what you can, when you can, as often as you like. It’s a brilliant way to feel part of the Stanley community by supporting the teachers, meeting other parents and making friends. And many hands really do make light work!

Here are some of the ways you can get involved:

Communications

This team manages communications with Stanley families and supporters through newsletters, Parentmail, noticeboards and social media. They also manage the promotion of FOSP events inside and outside school. Volunteer roles include designing posters, writing copy, managing social media, photocopying and sending out news and flyers. Want to help? Please email mail@stanleyfosp.co.uk

Finance

This team takes care of the money including handling cash, banking, floats for events, paying expenses and donations to the school, book-keeping and reporting our financial position back to the school and to the Charity Commission. Volunteer roles include book-keeping and accounts. Want to help? Please email mail@stanleyfosp.co.uk

Class reps

Every class at Stanley needs a class rep. This can be a mum, dad or other carer, and the job can also be shared between two or more people. Class reps are an important link between the parents and the school and are responsible for organising volunteers for class-related events like cake sales and swimming. They also liaise with the teacher, keep parents up-to-date with class news, and can organise the all-important coffee mornings and drinks nights. Want to help? Please email mail@stanleyfosp.co.uk

Event volunteers

These parents and carers are the backbone of FOSP and none of our fundraising events could happen without them. They do a million different things which help make Stanley such a friendly school community, including:

  • Helping out after school at the cake sales, second hand uniform sales and book sales
  • Organising and running bigger events like the Christmas Bazaar, May Fair and Summer Social
  • Photocopying leaflets in school
  • Encouraging local businesses to support school events
  • Helping out at swimming lessons and listening to children read (DBS checks needed)
  • Organising and running weekend or evening events like the Film Club or quiz nights

The list is endless! We’re always looking for volunteers for something, so if you can help in any way we’d love to hear from you. Just email us at mail@stanleyfosp.co.uk
