Helping At School

How you can help in school

During the school day

Your help is always welcome, however much or little time you can spare, and there are lots of ways you can become involved.  You may be able to give some regular time each day or week for a few minutes a day, one day a week or sign up periodically on a rota with other parents:

  • Swimming
  • 5-minutes-a-day programmes in literacy and numeracy
  • Literacy (reading, writing)
  • Numeracy
  • Outings
  • Arts weeks
  • Making costumes, helping with props and scenery
  • End of term activities
  • Cooking

Safeguarding

We look forward to welcoming you into school. The health, safety and wellbeing of our children is of paramount importance so we will ask you to sign in at the school office before coming into the classroom and to wear a visitor/helper badge. We will also ask you to read some brief safeguarding guidelines to help you when you are working in the classroom. If you are a regular volunteer in school, and may be working with children unsupervised by teaching staff, we will ask you to apply for a DBS check – we have forms in the office and can help you through the process. The forms are also available below.

Other ways to help

All parents are members of FOSP (Friends of Stanley Primary) and you may like to come along to our regular coffee mornings to meet up with other parents - see the calendar for dates - or become involved with the more strategic organisation of the school by becoming a governor.  Please ask in the school office for more information or see the FOSP or governance sections of this website.

We have limited Preschool places available for September 2024, to register your interest go to About Us / Admissions * * * * * If you have a safeguarding concern about a child please contact the Single Point of Access on 020 8547 5008
