Learning with Confidence Together
Parent View gives you the chance to tell Ofsted what you think about Stanley, from the quality of teaching to dealing with bullying and poor behaviour. The survey can be completed at any time; you don’t have to wait until the school is being inspected. Ofsted uses the information you provide when making decisions about which schools to inspect and when. You have the opportunity to say what we do well, in addition to what we could improve on.
A link to Parent View can be found on our website at http://www.stanley.richmond.sch.uk/ofsted/.
Click ‘Give your views’ to register and complete the survey.
Thank you!

Congratulations to Connie O'L (6TS) who took part in Pupil Parliament Day last week at York House. Connie and Pupil Parliament representatives for other Richmond primary schools met to present their speeches on the theme "It's your education". Connie's speech was voted by the other representatives as being in the top ten best speeches of the day. Well done, Connie!
The Pupil Parliament was established by Richmond borough in 1994 with the aim of helping primary school pupils to become directly involved in citizenship and promoting British values. Pupils debate and contribute their views to the borough council on many issues, including the school curriculum, sports and recreation as well as wider issues such as anti-racism and immigration. The parliament consists of two representatives (current Year 6 pupils) from each participating school.
We will be celebrating Harvest Festival at special assemblies this Friday 21 October. We will be making a collection of items which will be given to SPEAR (the homelessness to independence charity), the Salvation Army, Twickenham and Elleray Hall Social Club, Teddington. Items that are particularly useful include tins, rice, sauces, condiments, cereals, tea/ coffee, sugar, dessert items, biscuits, cakes, crisps, chocolate and squash. Useful non-food items include washing powder/ tablets, cleaning products, toilet roll, personal hygiene products and tea towels.
Parents/ carers/ children in Years 3-6 are asked to bring their contributions straight to the gym on Friday morning. All other children should take their contributions to their classrooms. We would be grateful if any parents/ carers could help to set up the Harvest table in the gym from 08.45 on Friday.
If you would like to nominate an elderly person in need to receive a harvest parcel, please return the form at the end of our newsletter.
Thank you!

Please could you discuss ‘Courage’ with children at home, and explore ways to reinforce it. Each week we will give special certificates to those children who demonstrate good values, and these will be displayed in the office reception area. Please feel free to come and look at them!

Year 4 visited Battle Abbey this week as part of their creative curriculum topic, 1066 and the Normans. This year marks the 950th anniversary of 1066 and the Battle of Hastings, and the children had the opportunity to dress up, bring events from the past to life and delve deeper into this important date and subject in history. They met an Anglo-Saxon story-teller and heard tales of Norman power and English rebellion; and they were taken to the battlefield and listened to how the dramatic events of 14 October 1066 had such an impact on England. See photos below!
We are looking forward to welcoming all our volunteers into school this Friday 7 October for our first Bring a Man to School Day of the year. Thank you as always to everyone who is coming in to help- the children really love having you here and showing off their classrooms and work.
