Learning with Confidence Together
On Thursday 16 July 2015 our Year 6 children put on their end of term play, Cinderella, which was fantastic! The children performed amazingly and loved the opportunity to put on a show for their parents and friends. See photos below.
With sparkly bow ties, gold envelopes and a hall decorated with 4 large helium filled balloons shaped in the letters G, L, O and W it was time for the annual GLOW (Great Love of Words) awards today- celebrating the fantastic books children have read and enjoyed this year.
The GLOW award winners this year were...
A visitor from the Richmond Library service also came to talk to children about the Summer Reading challenge 'Record Breakers'.
A list of all the nominations can be found at http://www.stanley.richmond.sch.uk/english/, so that children will have a good starting place to choose their summer reading.
Exciting news just in- we won a Silver Gilt award for our Living Classroom at the Richmond Borough in Bloom awards today. Many congratulations to Naomi Johns, Molly Gartland and the FOSP team of volunteers- a fantastic achievement for the Living Classroom’s first year.
On Monday 7 July 2015 all of the children in Year 2 were recorded by ‘School Recording Stars’, who are now going to produce compact discs for us to buy. The recording is to celebrate all of the work that has happened so far at their time in Stanley, and commemorates the end of their time in Year 2. The title of the CD is ‘Every Song Tells a Story’ and contains some favourite songs relating to journeys, friendship and working together.
Parents/ carers have the opportunity to come in and hear the children singing their songs at the ‘Year 2 Summer Gig’ on Friday 10 July 2015 at 09.00 or 14.30.
The children have been really enjoying this week’s Science Week at Stanley, with a series of science assemblies and interactive workshops, including some sunny outdoor sessions in our new Living Classroom. Thank you to Mrs Busby and Ms Leask for organising this annual event.
