Stanley Primary school defends National tag rugby championship
Stanley Primary School defends National tag rugby championship - the only school ever to win twice!
Congratulations to our fantastic squad for winning the National tag rugby championship for the second time. More coverage of the match to follow.
Mike Skinner, Competition Manager for Richmond and Kingston, congratulated our PE lead, James Watson: "Winning it once is amazing.................to defend the title is simply incredible. As you know I like stats and figures and so I just googled how primary schools there are in England. The answer is 16,971!! So 16,970 from last year plus 16,970 from this year makes it 33,940 schools that have tried to dethrone Stanley and they're still trying!!!!!! Many many congratulations to the whole squad, coaches, parents, supporters and of course yourself."
"We are very proud of the performance of our rugby team.” said Ian Dickinson, co-Head of Stanley Primary. “To win the national tag rugby championship is a fantastic achievement reflecting the team's dedication to their training over the year and the commitment of the coaches - James Watson and Paul Burke. To be the first school to retain the trophy shows the real depth of sporting talent that is developed each year at Stanley."
